| Pooka are
easily the most playful of the fae. They come from mortal dreams of small
children playing and animals who had no cares in the world. They tend to
have sweet dispositions but odd ways of expressing themselves, as they
are almost unable to take anything seriously. The see their purpose in
the world to be keeping everyone cheered up so that they won't get all
Banal and boring. |
| Pooka are inveterate
pranksters, and are usually very surprised if the target of their pranks
isn't as amused as they are. They will usually see anyone who gets mad
after a prank as a "hard case" and work even harder to cheer the sourpuss
up. They enjoy silly jokes, and are willing to do almost anything to get
a laugh, although as they get older they become a bit less frantic and
gain more style in their pranks. Unseelie Pooka are usually seelie Pooka
that have been soured by one experience or another, and are actually not
that much worse than their seelie brethren, although they have a tendency
toward meaner tricks. More of a "Cheer up or I'll give you something to
cry about". Their tendency toward chaos makes them occasionally pretend
to be Seelie just so they can have more opportunities for pranks. |
| Each
Pooka has an association with a particular kind of animal, and can shape
shift into that animal, although only when no one is watching. They tend
to have features reflecting their animal nature even in their mortal seemings,
and in their Kith forms may even have animal and tails. |
| Pooka are irrepressible
liars- they literally have to use force of will to tell nothing but the
truth. Anything a Pooka says has likely been seasoned well with exaggeration
and flat out embellishment long before it slips off the tongue, so despite
their shape shifting abilities, they do not make the best scouts. On the
other hand, they make wonderfully attentive listeners, and people have
a tendency to spill their guts to Pookas. Maybe it has something to do
with the puppy eyes. |
